I'll get this part out of the way first.
Congratulations to the Lakers.
There, I said it. Never have I been the biggest NBA fan, but I can usually get into the Finals at least. Not this year. It was clear to me who was going to win, and there was not a ton of excitement. Looking forward to the draft though, I'm interested to see what the Bulls will do with their two first-round picks. Obviously they need a big man, but there aren't a lot of legitimate big men in the draft. The speculation I've talked about with a couple of friends is that they'll try to trade the picks to move up. It will be Gar Forman's first draft as the Bulls' GM, so hopefully he starts his term out right.

In the 9th inning of Sunday's Cubs game, I saw something that I hadn't seen much of, if at all, this season. That something is fire and excitement. Not only did they come through in the clutch, but Derrek Lee took a chance moving from first to third on a base hit to left. He slid in safely and pumped his fist excitedly. That's the kind of killer instinct and fire that I think they need. The Cubs/Sox series is starting tomorrow and I'm hoping for just some decent games, because combined, they might make up the ugliest baseball city in the league.

I know this happened this morning, but I was probably still sleeping, so it counts as over the weekend. Plaxico Burress was back in court this morning, and his case was adjourned until late September. He technically cannot be disciplined by the NFL until his case is settled in court, so theoretically, he can play this season. He's a free agent, and the Bears have been rumored to be interested. Personally, I would have no problem picking him up. This gun issue is a one-time incident. To me, it sounds like he was just a little reckless. He didn't hurt anyone with his gun, and the fact it even went off was an accident. He would be ahuge upgrade for the Bears, and would give Jay Cutler a legitimate #1 receiver to throw to.
